Press Releases: FOR POLLY ... WITH LOVE AND RESPECT
This Thursday, November 8, I have a very unique favor to ask of you.
For that one day, I am asking you NOT to listen to the music on this web site.
Instead, I am asking that you listen to something far more important as Streamingoldies.com joins forces with the radio stations of the Upper Valley and beyond in Vermont and New Hampshire to honor Pauline, her fight, and all those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

Press Releases: DON'T YOU JUST LOVE A PARADE?
Submitted by Mary Mac
SHS Alumni Secretary
With the excitement of the Variety Show at hand, I can't forget to mention the flurry of activity surrounding the parade. It takes great planning and perseverance to contact all the bands and units that participate in our parade. Once this first stage is accomplished, there has to be a plan formulated for the parade line-up.
This year, Alumni vice-president Keith Ferguson has put his mind to the task. As most all of you know, Keith can be very persuasive so we are off to a great start. I’ve also heard that he may have a couple surprises up his sleeve.
Whatever they may be you can be sure that this parade will fill the bill for a good time.
Please give the gift of life this season at The Springfield VFW on Wednesday, December 27 from 12:00 – 5:30.
First Time donors are always welcome!
Remember…the need for blood never takes a holiday.FREE OKEMO SKI PASSES TO ALL PRESENTING DONORS!

Thank you for caring.

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross New England Region is currently behind almost 1,300 pints of blood. We’ve had to cut shipments to area hospitals. Due to the fact that the 4th of July falls on a Tuesday, we anticipate that as we approach the holiday week, supplies may continue to decline.
Please donate on Wednesday, June 28 at the Springfield VFW from 12:00 – 5:00
Help spread the word and please encourage others to do so as well.
Thank you for caring. All the best for a safe and relaxing summer!

Press Releases: 13 OUTRAGEOUS APRIL FOOL'S DAY HOAXES
You might think it is just an American tradition to play April Fool's Day jokes on April 1st.
Au contraire, friends. The tradition is hardly Amercian, and it is hardly a recent idea. In fact, some of these hoaxes date back 300 years.
In his book, Hippo Eats Dwarf, author Alex Boese examines some of the more outrageous "jokes" that have been played, not only on people, but also cities, and even entire countries.

Press Releases: A VERY ''SWEET'' APPEAL
Vermont Lt. Governor Dubie Appeals For Donations To Send Real Maple Syrup To Troops
MONTPELIER - Lieutenant Governor Brian Dubie on Friday issued an appeal for Vermonters and people around the nation to donate to the effort to send Vermont maple syrup to Vermonters in the military serving in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Iraq.
"The men and women of Vermont serving in the war on terror miss their families and their state, especially at this time of year when they know the sap is running in the sugar woods," Dubie said. "Operation Maple Sweetness is a small gesture of Vermont’s appreciation for their sacrifice, and our way of sending them a little taste of Vermont."

Press Releases: OUR NEIGHBORS IN HARDWICK NEED YOUR HELP
Every day, when I come to the end of the Heather & Ray show, I always include the following line: "Remember to be to good to each other because in the end, that's all we have...each other."
Now, it is true we desperately need your help with reaching our goals for Project Feed The Thousands, and we are hopeful you will, as you always have, be very supportive.
But there are other people who need your help as well.
On Friday, November 25, tragedy struck the town of Hardwick. A fire destroyed the 100-year-old, three-story Bemis Block on Main Street , leaving 14 people homeless and shutting down four businesses.
Yes, we are once again called to help those in need, just as we did with Hurricane Katrina, the victims of the flood in Alstead, and most certainly, the families we are trying to help with Project Feed The Thousands.
I am asking you to reach out to the victims of the Hardwick fire. I spoke with Rob Levine of The American Red Cross this morning. Rob told me the need is great.
I also spoke with Lyn Bixby, editor of The Caledonian-Record, and he has kindly granted me permission to quote from their article.
