You Asked For It
YOU GOT ITWe Apologize If Your Feet Get Wet(2/11) Look Inside! We added MORE songs!!(2/18) WOW!!! We Just Did It Again!
We started the year off with a survey asking what YOU wanted from Streamingoldies.com in 2010. We were a little surprised when 56% of you asked for more songs in the Rock & Roll Stream (even though it was already LOADED with songs), but we were very surprised when you said you wanted the music to come – almost equally – from three different decades.
Well, we have long maintained this is your site as much as it is ours so we're happy to announce we have added many, many more songs (hundreds more) – and more will be added on a weekly basis – from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
Even with our commitment to keep the Rock & Roll Stream a commercial-free, 24-hour a day experience, that means you get to hear the greatest music of all time with far fewer repeats than you'll hear anywhere else because once we play a song, we don't play it again until EVERY song in our database has been played ... and with thousands of songs lined up, that will take a while.
But that's a good thing. A typical radio station plays anywhere between 200-300 songs on a rotating basis ... if you're lucky. That would work if there had only been 200-300 great songs over that thirty-year period but we all know that ain't the case! The Rock & Roll Stream wouldn't exist if we were only going to play 300 songs. What would be the point? Sure, it might be easier for us to do that but we think you deserve to hear ALL the hits.
Yes, the Stream is so swollen, it may just overflow, so please, watch your feet. Electrocution sucks.
UPDATE: Since this article was first posted, we've added over 200 more songs!!! ... and we have no intention of stopping. It really is a non-stop barrage of the greatest music of all-time!
UPDATE: We meant it. We aren't stopping! We just added 44 more songs today (Feb 18). The Hit Parade continues!!
And of course, the whole thing – just like everything else here – comes to you FREE. All you have to do is click the icon on the Home Page. There are several places to find it but we suggest the "Streaming iPod" on the left side (just below the survey question) but anywhere you see 'The Stream' will also work. In fact we'll make it very easy to find it at the bottom of this article.
Is membership required to play the Rock & Roll Stream?Nope, it is open and available to anyone. Just click the 'Stream' icon of your choice, select your listening option (Windows Media Player, Real Player, Winamp or Quicktime) and you'll be up and running. Listen as long as you want and then, by all means, we invite you to come back and do it again (and again)!
Okay, I am probably a little too close to the music (having added every song) but I am listening to the stream right now ... and damn, it REALLY is great!
And MORE songs will be added this weekend!
